The Team

In addition to founder and principal Roz Potter, RN, MA, CIC, a team of committed professionals contribute to Defying Disaster’s work.

Eli Engel, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Engel serves as medical adviser to Defying Disaster. Dr. Engel is a distinguished family practice physician and physiology researcher, with a long list of original research to his credit.  Dr. Engel earned his M.D. from the University of Buffalo New York Medical School (now State University of New York at Buffalo), and a Ph. D. in physiology from UCLA.  He is board certified in family practice and geriatrics.  Dr. Engel is a member of the medical staff of the Jewish Home for the Aged in Reseda, CA,  an adjunct associate professor of biomathematics at UCLA, and Chief Investigator at a private research company.

Erin Tejeras, B.A.

Erin serves as Development and Training Consultant. She provides assistance with research, social media, multimedia, program development, and instruction.  Erin is a recent honors graduate of Sacramento State University where she majored in sociology.  Erin’s internship with the Solano County Probation Department provided her with solid knowledge, training and skills working with confidential and sensitive information, in addition to knowledge of the criminal justice system.

We also work with a number of skilled associates in law enforcement, security, public health and safety and emergency readiness, who are utilized on a project by project basis, according to their expertise.
